This is not exactly “news”, SwirlyMMS has been there since ages, but the correct settings are the real problem here… You try calling customer service and they have no clue what the MMS settings are, and they just tell you what they know best, or the only thing that they do: “We’re sorry Sir/Madame, iPhones do not support MMS, oh and how come you have your internet working? You are not subscribed, it shouldn’t be working!”
Anyway, finally I managed to explain to one of Vodafone’s people that they just need to provide us with a bunch of variables, and it’s finally working, you can send and receive MMS msgs on your iPhones using SwirlyMMS or any other MMS app that has manual settings available..
- Open SwirlyMMS
- Go to Settings:
MMSC and Proxy Server Settings
- MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.com.eg/servlets/mms
- PROXY: 163.121.178.2:8080
MMS-Specific APN Settings
- APN: mms.vodafone.com.eg
- Username: mms
- Password: mms
- Restart your iPhone
- Open SwirlyMMS
- Wait for the Green M icon in the Status Bar
- You’re ready to go!
Well if you’ve any luck with Mobinil, please update us with their settings as well..
