This is a brief guide on how to SSH on your iPhone and access its local files using both, Mac or Windows. SSH is very useful in backups, manual installation of files, patching or replacing system files, and many other things.
Prerequisite:
- Jailbroken Phone
- OpenSSH Installed
Steps:
- Download OpenSSH from Cydia under Networking
- Download an SSH Client on your computer:
- All SSH client will require certain attributes
Example of Connecting Using Fugu:
That was only an example showing a connection using one of many SSH Clients, but they are all the same idea..
Connecting to your phone using only cable:
A new application is now available that uses FTP and SSH as it’s integral protocols of transmission, yet as a user all you need to do is to plug your USB cable to your laptop. You can use it instead of SSH for all sorts of things, unless you need to play with permissions you’ll have to stick with the conventional ways. See more details here.
