Being a proud iPhone owner let me just say the Apple iPhone is a revolutionary device, that has made all other mobile phone manufacturers (HTC, Motorola, Nokia) play catch up. Apple wasn’t even in the smartphone industry, stunning all the big players, just like they weren’t in the portable music industry, and stunning all with the iPod.
Now with the Motorola Droid, HTC Hero, and more recently the Nexus One (Google phone running new Android OS) some iPhone owners are thinking of switching. Why?
Why switch to something that is playing catch up, they are trying to get where the iPhone is already at, and by that time there will be a new iPhone 2010 that will just blow the competition away.

Nothing from them its like an iPhone.
They need years to be near with apple phone.
I am sure the next iPhone will be 10 steps front of them.
All they try, also NOKIA with the new OS but for people they need a mobile for easy using, perfect browsing, mail on the road and interesting apps, there is one way.
I looked the prices for the HTC WWM, Diamond2 and touch Pro just after some months have half price at the market.

The iPhone is a wonderful phone, but it has some issues
1-The UI hasn’t changed in 3 years. It’s about time the new iPhone comes with a new UI
2-The App Store process is horrendous.
3-The battery is awful.
4-The inability to put apps in the background without jailbreaking.
This is where the competitors are finding space to fight. I just hope Apple have something in store for us, other than a 64GB iPhone with some minor hardware enhancements.

The difference between iPhone OS and android OS will be the same as the different between Mac OS and Linux.
Apple is going mostly to allow background processing in the future versions. Actually they started making things easier for programmer and allowed some apps to be in the store which they didn’t before.
I still have faith that iPhone won’t have a real competitor soon!

While I love my iPhone 3G, but I am one of those who are “thinking” about moving on… Here’s why:
1. I think it has too little of a memory, backgrounding doesnt even make sense there because of the little memory. Plus, Safari browsing gets too slow if opening content rich pages.
2. Safari still doesnt support flash, and I’m guessing on the 3G, it will suffocate if it tries.
3. You cant get all the really good stuff without jailbraking, which is no problem for me, but many people dont like that!
4. As s_Fanous above said, the UI needs to change a little, I have no problem with it, but I get bored a little to easily.
5. Cant put images on it except through iTunes, which is a pain, plus you need to have all the pix you want in one folder!
6. Since I do not have a mac, I cannot develop apps for it, unless I’m missing something!

Sure iPhone needs renewal in many things, not only in the ui.
Before I buy the iphone, I used for years HTC windows mobiles.
My last was the HD1.
I have make some themes for that at the XDA developers community:

Like you understand I know very well this category of smart phones.
I am a member of several Greek and European forums. We have make a separate thread at http://www.myphone.gr with title “Before Windows Mobile users and now iphone users”. http://www.myphone.gr/forum/showthread.php?t=254257
Many of us have bought and tried the HD2 and the HTC Hero Android.
None of them sold the iphone, to keep the HD2 or the Hero.
Iphone is much better to very important things, such as the using of the screen, where you can choose very easily what you want. The multi touching of iphone is unique, there is not similar at another device.
Everything working fantastic simple and fast without problems and bugs.
Of course need to be jailbreak, but also WWM & Android require tens and more tweaks to correct problems and improve them interface.
So my opinion is we have to wait the information about iPhone4, before we decide to going in an other OS.

My friend if you work safari with real fast internet you will change opinion.
When I am traveling out from Egypt, internet is more more fast.
we speak of course for iPhone 3Gs, because 3G it is past now.
Try to make surfing with opera at one HTC and you will understand the different.
Don’t look the youTube tests do it alone, go at any vodafone center and ask to try on them sample.

this site is about Egyptian apple, not Egyptian iPhone. I just got a Macbook pro and I can confidently say that it is a very pleasant experience. However, I got the G1 android when it first came out. I got the iPhone 3G for 4 month, and now I am back to the awesome HTC Hero, Android UI sense is AMAZING!
Though I say iPhone is a great phone, but Android now has:
- true open source
- background applications (and if you think the device is running slow at any point, just use the task killer to free up your RAM)
- Widgets.. WIDGETS!
- Toggle buttons: Wifi/Bluetooth/tethering/sound all is switched on and off with one click on the desktop
- flash support
- true customization of the phone
- much, much, easier file handling and access to mobile content
- much much muuuuuuuuch better phone log, phone book, social networking integration
- three types of on-screen keyboards to suite every taste; my favorite is compact qwetry (and I am sure that you don’t know what that even means because iPhone has trapped you into its one dimensional world)
- My life doesn’t have to revolve around iTunes
- And most importantly I don’t have to hack into my phone to get all of that.. seriously, I don’t have to download 300 megabytes and waste an hour of my life every time Apple decides to add a decimal place to its firmware version..
Anyway, I love my MAC, I got my sister an iPhone, but for me, I have my eyes on the Driod (or Milestone)… that’s really something..

Ok so I’m a huge techie all about the features but also all about the usability and the looks.
Android hehe makes me giggle … last time I held an Android and tried to scroll a list the experience was so bad so jerky its as if the thing hanged!!
Apple gets things right and does the right thing, there is a trust between true Apple users and Apple the company I know that they know what they are doing, Apple engineers & designers are one of the best in the industry, when they sandbox applications it is for the majority of users (your father, sister) own good, unlike Android you can easily upgrade and find yourself bricked cuz someone decided to add a new feature without properly testing its functionality, yet alone it’s usability, welcome to open source
No denial in other manufacturers are catching on but it will never match the “Full Apple Experience” it’s all about completeness. How complete is the phone this is what sets apart any Apple product from the rest.
Great in design, concept and creation from the outside inside. It’s about every aspect of the products intended use.

Of course this is not the real new iphone, but will be something like that, because this is which needs the market.
camera sure will be 5MP and bigger screen.
All that they aren’t imagination. Apple let us to take some informations because want to do that.
We must be sure the next summer apple will give something real new, because them target is to continue this which they start with iPhone 2G.
I love my iPhone because I make my work with no problems and I like HTC HD because I have a game to pass my time with flashing roms, hacking and tweaking.
I love my macbook pro because make my life easier
I am a Mack lifer
