I have been reviewing this forum for quiet some time now, and I noticed that most of you are looking for a voice activated GPS application. After some research, I came across the iGo application for the iphone. Well, it doesnt have all the features that the Ndrive or Tomtom offer. However, it does the job!
After trying the application for about 15 mins, here are the pros and cons, in my opinion:
Pros:
- Its only 56 Mbs in size, unlike the Ndrive which is more than 300Mbs.
- Cool and friendly interface
- Easy and simple to use
- More updated POI (Point of interests) in Cairo; unlike the Ndrive which has pretty old POI. E.g. Starbucks (Soliman Abaza) is still listed as Philies on Ndrive.
Cons:
- Kinda slow and sluggish
- Not very accurate point orientation (Probably because of the weak GPS signal in Egypt)
- Doesn’t have Arabic language support, for those of you who prefer to use Arabic for street names.
- No co-ordinates input option which for me is a huge -ve.
Hope you enjoy it!

I haven’t used the app myself but the screenshots on this page suggest that it does have Arabic language support: http://www.igomyway.com/iphone/en/igomyway_Middle_East.html

@ Amr: I meant that street names on the map, on the version I had, were in English; which made searching for streets, very difficult.
If you find another good reliable source for the App, please let me know.

those are the list of countries listed in the application specifications for IGO middle east and for the link you wrote…. where is the version for egypt??? bleuxs, you there?

@freddy: Well one of the pros Bleuxs wrote are More updated POI (Point of interests) in Cairo, but I haven’t read anything on their official website? anyone care to validate
It’s a risk for freddy to go out and buy it in the hopes it might have Egypt map.

I included the website where I downloaded my version from. But, apparently, the blog rules does not allow publishing websites for cracked versions.
Anyway, for those of you who don’t mind installing the cracked version, Google “iGo My Way Egypt” and you will find loads of forums to download Egypt maps from.
P.S.The image uploaded on this post (which I didnt upoad) is not fo Egypt maps, it is for the Gulf countries.

Btw, you can download each map for the middle east countries independently. While the genuine version has all the gulf countries maps (including egypt) in 1 app.

I need help everyone, I have an iPhone 3G which I bought from Vodafone about November of ’09, and now I have iGo, NDrive, MotionX GPS & 3 GPS. All of these apps can’t get a GPS signal of my phone, please somebody help me!!!
March 26th, 2010 at 1:15 pm
@0mar32: if your iphone is running on firmware version 2.2 then you wont get a GPS signal because the GPS will be locked. But if your iphone works on firmware version 3 or higher, then you should get a GPS signal.
Check your firmware, if its 2.2 or 2.1, then you will need to upgrade your firmware and reinstall those apps again.
