NTRA has lifted the GPS ban.
GPS feature on iPhone 3.0 is now fully functional on Egypian networks.

Step by step guide here …
- You must have a jailbroken iPhone FW 2.2
- You must have DiskAid or iPhoneBrowser to be able to upload the patch to ur iphone
- From either of those programs, browse to /usr/libexec and replace loactiond with the patch file
- Open Maps, check ur GPS (it takes sometime to pin point you, so be patient, also make sure ur outdoors, indoors will lose pin point location)

i phoned yesterday’s night the US apple support for mobinil GPS case and they didn’t ask me about the jailbreak or unlock they just sdid some restore settig with me and then they told me ( THIS IS PROBABLY A CARRIER PROBLEM ! )

I told you from the begining that is mobinil problem.
I happens in Greece this we have they way to stop them to sale iphone.
But here there is not way. So only solution is GO TO VODAFONE.
Mobinil don’t need us.
I am desapoided because i like Mr Sauiris. in Greece he has a company (WIND) which work correct.

i’m having the same problem with mobinil and gps,although i didn’t have tried my phone with any other carrier,but it takes too much time to get a signal on maps app.
i thought @ 1st it was only my problem and my phone,but it seems it’s mobinil’s problem.

I would like to inform you that gps work very well with mobinil now.
My iphone lock sattelites in few seconds.
These days I try the NDrive navigation program.
It looks good.

Guys if i replaced the locationd file when i was 2.2 then i updated to 3.0, jailbreaked and got iGO will it work? did the locationd file get updated as well or should i get the old one, and does iGO work from a balcony cause i didnt get a chance to try it outside

@hadiz89: this is a very old post, GPS now works out of the box, go to iTunes, make sure you have the latest firmware 3.x

I need help everyone, I have an iPhone 3G which I bought from Vodafone about November of ‘09, and now I have iGo, NDrive, MotionX GPS & 3 GPS. All of these apps can’t get a GPS signal of my phone, please somebody help
P.S: I’m on 3.1.2 Jailbroken using redsn0w
