This post is about the top apps that you should have for your iPhone or iPod Touch… It’s about personal experiences as well as reviews and will be updated to include all the programs that should be here. That way, if you wanna pay money for sth you can make sure that its effective first… Please post your own as well.

Freeware
- Free: Means totally free to use, usually without even Ads
- Lite: Another term for “Demo” , and it means that you can try some or all options but probably for a limited time or less features, or with Ads…
Shareware
- Those are paid applications that you can’t even try before buying
It will also be mentioned whether the alleged application can be found on Cydia or AppStore…

- Night Camera: Controls shutter speed to try to get the least possible grainy pictures in dark settings (Shareware on AppStore)
- iEasyCamera: Allows you to capture the picture by pressing anywhere in the screen, that way making it possible to take a photo of yourself and your friends easier since you wouldn’t have to try to reach for the capture button (Shareware on AppStore)
- NearPics: Works such as Macro mode, trying to take better Near Pics, personally i haven’t found it that effective yet (Shareware on AppStore)
- CameraArt: Provides extra features such as Manual Shutter and Picture Sensitivity, also known as ISO settings(Shareware on AppStore)
- ClearCam: Boosts the quality of the photos and reduces the noise (Free to try on Cydia, Shareware to use extra options)
Photo Manipulation
- NakedTouch: Edit your photo to boost simple factors such as exposure, contrast and brightness, and many more properties such as filters and all… Works such as iPhoto to control the picture basics, very useful (Shareware on AppStore)
- iToony: Add Thought and Conversation boxes, using your photo as a base to a comic book style pic, pretty cool (Shareware on AppStore)
Video Cameras
- Cycorder: Works great as a video camera (Free on Cydia)
- VideoRecorder3G: Offers extra features such as manipulation the output format and quality (Shareware on Cydia)
Utilities
Installations
- Installer: Not so hip after Cydia came along but some sources still reside there so keep it anyway (Free with Jailbreak using ZiPhone and Pwnage Tools)
- Cydia: The ultimate repository place having numerous apps and games and more (Free with Jailbreak using Pwnage Tools Versions 2.x)
- AppStore: Allows you to legally download from Apple’s official AppStore right from your iPhone/iPod Touch rather than having to do it from your iTunes (Comes along with any firmware 2.x iPhone)
- Installous: Allows you to get hacked applications, which you shouldn’t unless u really wanna try it BEFORE paying for it (But please read this to get an idea about the ethics behind this item)

- Winterboard: Replaces BOTH the latter, and combines their efforts to create a more powerful application that allows you to download or create themes of almost anything and everything on your iPhone/iPod Touch (Free on Cydia)

- biteSMS Up Till V2.7: SMS Forwarding and Deleting Individual Messages (No longer Free on Cydia but you can download it from this page…)
- biteSMS V3.0: This is the update now available on Cydia and Installer, but it’s a lite version. However, has great added features such as Business Card Sending, Delivery Reports, Quick Replies, and more! (Lite Version on Cydia – Read more here)
- iRealSMS: SMS Forwarding, Deleting Individual Messages, Sending Business Cards, Sending Location- Works great but has a bug that alters your real SMS count, so personally I go for biteSMS (Demo on Cydia)

Address Book
- ABGroups: Allows you to manipulate the group functions in your address book instead of having to do it only on your computer and synchronize. This application lets you add/remove from groups, as well as creating or removing the entire thing (Shareware from AppStore)
- Fast Add: Adds new contacts in one tap (Free on AppStore)
Business Cards
- vCardMailer: Allows you to send any contact as a vCard attachment on mail (Shareware on AppStore)
- iRealSMS: Send business cards using SMS Very useful for more (Shareware on Cydia)
Maps and GPS
- Google Earth: The infamous Google Earth as an iPhone Application (Free on US iTunes Store)
- OfflineMaps: Allows you to browse your maps offline (Free on Cydia) and check out here for attaining Alex and Cairo Maps
- MotionX-GPS Lite: Advanced GPS Tool (Free on AppStore)

Dictionaries & Translators
- Translator: Translates phrases from any language to another and vice versa, also having extra options such as history. Most languages are supported and it’s the only one that works offline. (Shareware from AppStore)

- VoiceNotes or iTalk Recorder: Easily record voice notes on the go… I use it when i need to look up a song later as well so that i can listen to the lyrics and know its name… You can also download a syncing software or DiskAid to grab the files. (Free on AppStore)
- Sticky Notes: This allows you to easily write knows in sticky notes forms, and you can use them as your wallpaper for quick reminders (Shareware on AppStore)
- Fliq Notes: Advanced notes containing categories and sorting options, as well as syncing facilities with your computer (Free on AppStore)
Dialing
- FaceDial: Like speedialing, but with the photo instead… You click on the photo and the contact is dialed (Lite and Shareware Versions on AppStore)
- iDialUDrive: Allows you to create a list of people that you need to call, so that by just one click it calls each person on that list respectively so that you forget no1! Very useful when you wake up to find zillions of missed calls that you need to get back to, yet in your hurry someone could simply slip off your mind… Useful when driving as indicated by the name as well as when you’re concentrating on other tasks (Shareware on Cydia)

you just need to make sure that u choose sending by Carrier Settings then u can use it by free

I’ve been testing some free iPhone Apps recently and here my favorites:
- Fake-A-Call (Very useful when you need to have a break from a boring meeting)
- Flight (Search for flights and provides Departure and Arrival information)
- Currency (Exchange rates between many currencies all at once)
- iPray (The name says it all, Prayer time table)
- iTalk (Voice recorder)
- Search (Very powerful, it will search your emails, SMS, and Notes)
- iHandy Level
- AptBackup (Provides Cydia applications backup – did not test it fully yet)
- jPhone (Deep search in your contacts, search by phone number, email, company, and notes, also has a detailed recents log similat to iLog )
- swapBT (One touch Blue Tooth switch On/Off)
- SBSettings (Handy toggle BT, Wifi, 3G, Location Services, … )
- FindInPage (Searches in the current Web page)
- Lock Calendar (Show your Calendar entries while the screen is locked)
