I’m pretty happy to join such a group, especially an Egyptian One.
Guys as you know, the soft unlock is being issued at first of January 2009.
As I understand from different threads on the Hack forum that iphone detects the country code which is 602 for Egypt. this means if you are outside egypt (having roaming through another carrier in another country) you will be able to use the GPS service.
Please correct me if i’m not right

I’ve been a fan and member of numerous Apple blogs but never an Egyptian one. It’s about time that a forum/blog for Egyptian Apple users was established. Kudos to you guys for getting this together. I have to say I’m proud of you and I hope to participate and offer all my knowledge to those who need it.
Some quick background information about me and Mac:
I own an 20″ aluminum iMac, a black MacBook, an 8GB black iPod nano, and an 8GB iPhone 3G. I also have a MobileMe account and use GarageBand religiously to record my own original songs. Additionally, I work as a student assistant in an all Apple computer lab at AUC.

@ kkamel, if it works on 2.2, it works on 2.1, i checked and the system files are the same…
Buttt 2.2 unlock is out, i think u’d wanna upgrade anyway

Uhm, I kind of suggest you guys install a (relatively small) forum software next to WordPress — how else can someone post questions for help?
I suggest bbPress, integrates perfectly with WordPress, AND, small and convenient enough.
