The dev team announced yesterday that they already unlocked OS 3.0 and it will work on any phone with no regards to boot loader or anything and that they are currently testing the pwnage tool and quickpwn for itunes 8.2 and will play a live demo of unlocking the 3.0 OS.

For the first time since the first iPhone was out, an Unlock was available pre-Jailbreak release! Dev-Team’s YellowSn0w unlock still works with the new firmware, yet Pwnage tools to jailbreak the iPhone or iPod Touch were scarce (Read the earlier feed about that, and what features are added by the upgrade in general, here) until moments ago… So before the release of a jailbreaking tool, you could have upgraded to have a phone working but without all the goodies that come along with jailbreaking, so it was advised to wait until the release of a Pwnage update before doing so. But now the wait is over!

The iPhone Dev-Team have finally released their long awaited iPhone 3G software unlock solution, called yellowsn0w. It still in a beta stage at the moment, at version 0.9.1. It works, but its not very stable.
